THE YOUNG FOLK
On Saturday, June 6th the children and their families enjoyed a wonderful day at Adventureways in Moulton. In the morning the children took part in sporting activities supervised by the manager and his staff and our helpers whilst the parents took part in a programme of talks and workshops with Dr Anne Smith, Paediatric Consultant and the Diabetes Specialist Paediatric Nurses in the large marquee. The families and helpers (120) met up for lunch. The children returned to their sporting and Craft activities whilst the adults had an afternoon discussion with Dr Jonathan Rippin, Adult Diabetes Consultant. Everyone met up again for supper when the fish and chip and ice-cream vans arrived. The families had plenty of time to chat and share their experiences before returning home ready for a good night’s sleep! Feedback from the day was excellent.
This was the first time that we had used this venue and consequently there was an enormous amount of planning and preparation to ensure things ran smoothly. Julie Lawrence and her family worked hard for months in order for this to happen and we thank them most sincerely for doing so. Our thanks to Dr Smith and the Paediatric Nurses for giving up their Saturday morning and to Dr Rippin for attending for the whole day – I’m sure he enjoyed the Mountain Biking in the morning. Thanks also to Rosemary, Andy and all the helpers and to Kurt, manager at Adventureways and his staff for making the day so enjoyable for everyone. We just hope for a bit more sunshine next year!
